$4,700 Raise for What?

Can it get any worse? Unemployment is higher than it has been in decades. The market has fallen by a larger percentage than any time since the Great Depression. The Congressional Approval Rating continues to hover at an all time low. The public voices their dissatisfaction in every possible poll, yet nothing changes because the system that elects our leaders has been overtaken by the very politicians we all want to get rid of.

Despite our dissatisfaction the recent election managed to unseat only 23 incumbents (another 29 retired); we re-elected just under 95% of the incumbents in the House of Representatives. Does that mean we are satisfied? Members of Congress sure think so, they have just allowed their salary for next year to increase by $4,700. Don't you wish you could vote to increase your salary when you are doing such a terrible job?

Honestly, do you or does anyone expect real change with the current system?

Have you viewed Crew's list of the 20 most corrupt members of Congress? They even have a list of members to watch. These are the people who are LEADING our country.

The current process for selecting our leaders is completely broken. GOOOH offers a viable alternative, but we must let the rest of America know we exist. We need to grow faster.

I hope you will do what you can to tell others. Our base of supporters is growing, but we need your help to succeed. Spread the word!

I keep emailing my state rep, but no reply, they should forget the raise and go with out pay.

This is an automatic raise that takes effect year over year unless legislation is enacted to change it. Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) has introduced legislation to block the raise for 2010. Any bets on the level of support for killing next year's raise?

We all know the answer to that question: virtually none. It didn't even make it our of committee this year, and look at the state of the economy.

I sure hope GOOOH continues to grow.
